Next week, on Thursday, October 29, the League of Women Voters, together with Parent Council, will host a candidate forum for the At-Large seat on the Albemarle County School Board, as well as the Rivanna and Scottsville districts. The forum, which begins at 7 p.m. and will end promptly at 8:30, will be held at Monticello High School.
This is an unusual year in that the majority of the School Board seats will be decided by the November 3 election. In addition to the At-Large, Rivanna and Scottsville seats, candidates are standing for election in the Samuel Miller and White Hall districts.
Three candidates are seeking the At-Large seat: Jonno Alcaro, Dolly Joseph, and Catherine Lochner. Incumbent Jason Buyaki is unopposed in the Rivanna Magisterial District, as is incumbent Steve Koleszar in the Scottsville District.
The forum will be your opportunity to meet the candidates, hear their views on the future of your child’s education, and offer comments or ask questions of those who are seeking your vote.
