Bond Referendum 2016

In July, 2016, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution requesting that a referendum be held on the question of the County issuing general obligation bonds for selected public school projects. The bond referendum will be on the ballot as part of the general election to be held on November 8. Registered voters will be able to respond ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to a question asking if the County can issue general obligation bonds totaling $35 million to finance projects for improvements to Albemarle County public schools –  including designing, building, expanding, and renovating school properties, including new buildings and additions, renovations, and improvements to existing buildings, installing new furnishings and equipment in the public schools.

The following question will be included on the ballot:

Shall the County of Albemarle, Virginia, contract a debt and issue general obligation bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $35,000,000 for the purpose of providing funds, in addition to any other available funds, to finance the costs of improvements to Albemarle County public schools including designing, building, expanding, and renovating school properties, including new buildings and additions, renovations, and improvements to existing buildings, installing new furnishings and equipment in the public schools, and the related costs to issue the bonds and to reimburse the County for temporary financing?

ACPS Visual Arts Festival - 4/17 - 4/30

Message From Mr. Sherogan:

The annual Albemarle County Public Schools Visual Arts Festival is currently on display at the Fashion Square Mall. The show is a celebration of the visual arts and the terrific work made by our students. MLS has a number of 2D pieces on display by the Red Robin Entrance to the mall. Our 3D work is past the Starbucks on the left. I encourage you to visit and tour the display and see the wide range of art and growth displayed from elementary all the way to high school. I'm always excited to see former students' work on display so please support our students, neighbors, and friends by stopping by and seeing the show.

ACPS Community Technites

The DART Ed Tech team is sponsoring four Community Technites around the division during the last two weeks of April. These parent-focused events are designed to engage our families more fully in our Digital Learning Initiative, and may be particularly important for Middle School and Upper Elementary parents, though all will find valuable information.

The events will include a presentation by DART Ed Tech team members and a discussion panel that focuses on internet safety, social media, screen time, and digital citizenship. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful dialogue around student technology use. We will also have a Tech Zone where parents can see and interact with amazing examples of student technology use. Below are the dates and times for the Technites; click here for a digital flier.
