PTO Enrichment Zone (E-Zone) offers after-school electives in literature, science, art, math, technology, culture, and more in three 6-week sessions throughout the school year.

Boolean Girl

E-Zone is excited to announce that this year we have partnered with Boolean Girl, a non-profit based in Arlington, VA. Boolean Girl’s goal is, ‘to inspire and encourage girls in third through eighth grades to code, build, invent and animate.' For the Winter session, Boolean Girl will be offering A Coding Challenges in Scratch class for 3rd-5th grade girls class on Tuesdays and an Introduction to Programming in Scratch for 3rd-5th grade girls & boys class on Wednesdays.

The cost is will be $120, in order to help cover the costs of the instructors and kits used.

E-Zone Terms & Conditions

Session Dates & Prices

Winter: 6 weeks, session runs 1/7 - 2/25/19; $80/course ($70 with EDEP discount).
Spring: 6 weeks, session runs 3/18 - 5/1/19; $80/course ($70 with EDEP discount).

The EDEP discount applies to a child enrolled in Albemarle County’s Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP) on the SAME day he/she is enrolled in an EZ class.

Scholarships are available. To request financial aid, please contact the school guidance counselor Ms. Kovach.

Payment: Registration is not complete until payment is received. Payments for online registration are due at checkout. Online registration is preferred. Paper registration is discouraged because seats cannot be guaranteed. Forms are available by email request. Payments made by cash or check should be returned via MLS backpack mail ATTN: ENRICHMENT ZONE. All checks must be made payable to MLS PTO. The total amount due is $80 for each course (or $70 per course eligible for the ACPS EDEP discount).

Reminders and Updates

  1. The office will assume that any child signed up for E-Zone for the Fall session will attend unless they receive a note from the parent stating otherwise.

  2. If your child is signed up for E-Zone but will not be attending, please send a note to that effect. PLEASE notify the office staff at or by phone (434-293-9304) only if there is a change of plans during the day of the course.

  3. If possible, please send an extra, small snack with your child to enjoy during the class.

Dismissal Instructions

Dismissal is through the front doors, which will be locked. Please adhere to the following dismissal guidelines: An E-Zone Administrator will be at the front doors to allow parents entry into the school. Enter the school and sign your child out on the sign-out sheet in the entryway, noting the time on the sign-out sheet. Meet your child at the pencils. 

E-Zone classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday end at 4 PM sharp. Please be on time to pick up your child. Our E-Zone Administrators are paid by the PTO to stay until the conclusion of E-Zone. They are a very important part of the E-Zone program. They take on this responsibility at the end of a long workday. Please respect their schedules and be on time.
