World Language Community Forum This Wednesday Morning

Per Dr. Irani's announcement at Back to School Night, our first of three World Language Community Forums will take place this Wednesday morning in the MLES Media Center:

Dear families,

Last night at Back to School Night we shared the exciting news that we will begin planning a world language program so that it will be implemented in 2016-2017.  I would like to invite you and any other community members to attend any one of the community forums we will be hosting.  Our goals for the forums are to help everyone:

  • Understand what high quality world language instruction will look like.
  • Understand the pros/cons of Spanish and French in terms of utility, resource availability, and ease of learning.
  • Provide feedback on the two potential languages to aid school administrators in selecting a language.

The forums will all be in the media center at Meriwether Lewis and are scheduled for the following times:

  • September 16: 9:30-10:30
  • September 21: 3:00-4:00
  • September 28: 5:30-6:30

The school administration, in consultation with division leadership, will use the feedback we receive from these forums to inform our decision as to which language we will be pursuing.  A decision should be made by October 16.

I look forward to seeing as many of you who can make one of the forums and hearing your thoughts.  Thank you for your interest and support in this very exciting time for the students, staff, and families of Meriwether Lewis Elementary!
